Did We Get It Wrong?

An Open Reflection from Seychelles at Heart

At Seychelles at Heart, we strive to be a platform for the people of Seychelles, a space where freedom of speech is celebrated, and different perspectives can be shared openly. However, we also acknowledge that, just like everyone else, we can sometimes make mistakes.

It has recently been brought to our attention that a few claims made by one of our guests were factually inaccurate. We take this feedback seriously, and we want to address it head-on. When misinformation surfaces, we believe that the best response is not to hide from it but to correct it with truth, transparency, and dialogue.

This is why we are openly inviting anyone with evidence or alternative perspectives to come forward. We believe in the power of diverse voices, and we see disagreements as an opportunity for growth, not division. Healthy communities are those in which people are willing to have open discussions, even on topics they disagree on, while maintaining respect for each other.

We urge everyone to understand that there is no need for hostility or anger - especially if you are unwilling to share your perspective or point out any inaccuracies you see. Our mission is to create an open space where people feel empowered to speak their truth, and to hear the truths of others. We are all human, and we all see the world through our own unique lenses; Seychelles at Heart is here to make sure those voices are heard.

We are not affiliated with any political party. We are not here to push an agenda or create division. Seychelles at Heart exists solely for the people and the country, to give everyone a platform to express their views in a fair and balanced way - we invite you to hold us accountable in upholding these values.

We recognize that the culture in Seychelles has often discouraged people from speaking openly, particularly with those they may disagree with. We want to challenge this, and foster a culture where conversations, both comfortable and uncomfortable, are encouraged. We believe that by coming together, and by being open to listening and learning from each other, we can create positive change.

We thank our community for their continued trust and support, and for holding us accountable. Together, let’s continue to create an open environment where we can challenge, inspire, and grow alongside each other.

Seychelles at Heart - A Platform for the People, by the People.
